The end of our development
We are announcing that Fire will see no more releases. There is an announcement on the Front Page which explains our reasons.
As some of you know, there is a beta version of 2.0 floating around, however we feel that this version is just not ready for release in any form, so it will remain solely within the source code.
Sorry for any disappointments this may have caused.

Well, thanks for the work on Fire. I picked Fire as my IM/IRC client because it handled both–something Adium and so forth chose not to do.
Thanks again…

To be fair, the IRC support is on Adium’s todo list, just some other things need to happen before it can be done (such as revamping much of the group chat system).

I’m very sad that nobody is planning on working on Fire anymore. It’s a good client with an excellent UI, and I wish to extend a hearty thank you to all the developers who worked on Fire over the years. It’s been my AIM client of choice since forever. Ah well, onwards to Adium, I guess.

Fire.app.1.5.6.dmg (6,8MB) [...]

Very sad.
AdiumX is a poor, i would say, no replacement at all. I know that a few Fire-coders changed to Adium. Maybe this will help, but i don’t have high hopes.
The Fire 2.0beta is working very well on my system. I will use it as long as possible. And showing some Adium-users the 2.0beta - two already switched, well knowing, that Fire won’t be developed anymore. But at the moment, it’s simply the best choice for a multi IM app on OS X (and with halfway IRC support).

Also Sad Here. I like Fire very much and have used it for a very long time. Hope you all have GREAT success in your next thing.
Anyone know if you can convert the history from Fire to Adium? I have years of content in my message logs that I’d like to keep…
Thanks,
-stone
